Our Story - The Tryon's
Our Story begins on June 16, 1962, when Dennis married MaryAnn Smith at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Waterford, MI.  We had met the previous year during the summer of 1961 after I was discharged  after four years in the USAF.

 

The beginning was hard to get started since MaryAnn refused a date on multiple occasions always coming up with many excuses why she couldn’t go out.  She only agreed to the first date after a friend of hers said, “Well if you aren’t going to go out with him then I will”.  Apparently that was all it took and the rest is history.  She has often said that the moment she opened the door on the first date when I went to pick her up that she knew I was the one!

 

When we were first married I was working at Pontiac Motors in Plant 9.  I had a terrible job positioned at the end of the crank shaft line removing crankshafts from a never ending line, lifting them up and placing them on a rack that held eight on each side, what a terrible  job that was.  I knew for sure that was no place to spend a lifetime, at least not without seniority and a better job position there.  Read More
